Opening Windows, Planting Seeds of Purpose

Opening Windows, Planting Seeds of Purpose “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” — W.B. Yeats. All I want in my life is to make my teachers and mentors proud. To do that, I have dedicated myself to one mission: opening windows to the world for others. One of the greatest gifts I’ve always owned is a clear sense of mission, vision, and purpose. I witness the profound transformation of students from diverse backgrounds as they see their dreams manifest into reality here at the Asian University for Women (AUW). For many, this is not only about achieving a goal; it is about reaching a stage where they truly understand the meaning of the word ‘dream’ itself. Human learning is a complex and complicated process. At AUW, students do not just learn subjects; they acquire the perception to define what their future should look like. They discover their own mission and purpose in life. Here, as a teacher, the most crucial contribution I can make is facilitat...

Different Paths, One Purpose: Intention and Humanity in This Land

  1.       The Flow of Subcontinental Culture: Is religion a boundary, or is it humanity’s endless current? In Bengal’s soil, the answer has always leaned toward the latter. Human civilization revolves around two unseen forces: God and the Human Mind. Faith in them has shaped rituals, paths, and cultures across the ages, ensuring their enduring flow. One of the notable traits of this land and the subcontinent inhabitants is their ability to adapt while keeping the core intact. Like a river, culture keeps moving; its course bends, it carries plants, homes, villages, and debris to the sea. Islands form temporarily until washed away again. People, religion, and lifestyle adjust to the surroundings similarly. The culture, customs, and ethnicity of this land cannot be swiftly imposed upon or completely demolished; it must be harmonized with the existing ones. Hence, wedding songs, the Bengali New Year celebration, Haalkhata, and harvest festivals have all f...

Hope in Every Dawn - Shuva Karmaker

“Imagine there’s no heaven  It’s easy if you try  No hell below us  Above us, only sky  Imagine all the people  Livin’ for today.” Remember these iconic words coined by John Lennon in his song ‘Imagine’ ? This song has been resonating across generations, inspiring countless individuals to envision a world beyond borders, divisions, and prejudices. It was mid-afternoon, and my plates were full of various tasks, cooking my own thoughts blending with mighty overthinking skills as well as new challenges. Though taking and tackling challenges is one of the most loving habits I have grown into myself, to have a break, I opened YouTube and got this repeated suggestive favorite song. A bunch of wonderful words clicked in my mind with an instant realization, questioning myself: what could be simpler and more straightforward but profound than this wonderful saying for a happy and peaceful world? At first glance, the song may seem unrealistic. None can deny that. ...

Are you 'trying to love' or 'to love'?

Though it seems similar but there is a huge difference between 'trying to love' and 'to love' or 'trying to slap' and 'to slap'. When you're loving or slapping someone, always remember, you've not just shocked/amazed him/her, you've just paved the way to get it back! May be not from that particular person, maybe not the same way, but you will definitely get it back from anywhere, anytime, and anyone! Karma is not a bitch dear, it's what you do; reactions to your actions. The problem is we act as if we're gentle and we know everything, but no we are not and we don't know everything! Patience is a noble virtue which we never practice, we just blabber about it... 🙂 đŸŒē #realizations
